About S-FRAME Products 2017 Suite: Structural Office R17 is a suite of structural analysis and design software with powerful BIM/CAD links, is designed to increase productivity and collaboration among projects' stakeholders. The various components of Structural Office may be purchased separately or bundled together within Structural Office, and with the exception of S-STEEL Design, they can all operate as stand-alone applications as well. S-CONCRETE - comprehensive section design and detailing tool of reinforced concrete beams, columns and walls. Its powerful graphical output capabilities provide immediate feedback to the engineer as design parameters are changed. S-CONCRETE is integrated with S-FRAME. S-FRAME - a complete structural modeling, analysis, and design environment. S-FRAME features numerous productivity tools, advanced analyses, a variety of material models, flexible load combination methods, fast and accurate solver technology all bundled within a powerful and intuitive user interface. S-LINE - an intuitive yet powerful standalone application for the analysis, design and detailing of continuous reinforced concrete beams. S-LINE supports code checking and automated design and detailing to multiple design codes for a variety of section types. S-PAD - a standalone steel design and optimization product. Quickly check columns, beams or braces without the need to build a detailed model for the complete structure. Built with the structural engineer consultant in mind.

Introduction to Probability with Statistical Applications targets non-mathematics students, undergraduates and graduates, who do not need an exhaustive treatment of the subject. The presentation is rigorous and contains theorems and proofs, and linear algebra is largely avoided so only a minimal amount of multivariable calculus is needed. The book contains clear definitions, simplified notation and techniques of statistical analysis, which combined with well-chosen examples and exercises, motivate the exposition. Theory and applications are carefully balanced. Throughout the book there are references to more advanced concepts if required.

The concept of effective stress and the effective stress equation is fundamental for establishing the theory of strength and the relationship of stress and strain in soil mechanics and poromechanics. However, up till now, the physical meaning of effective stress has not been explained clearly, and the theoretical basis of the effective stress equation has not been proposed. Researchers have not yet reached a common understanding of the feasibility of the concept of effective stress and effective stress equation for unsaturated soils.

MATLAB® is used for a wide range of applications in geosciences, such as image processing in remote sensing, the generation and processing of digital elevation models and the analysis of time series. This book introduces methods of data analysis in geosciences using MATLAB, such as basic statistics for univariate, bivariate and multivariate datasets, time-series analysis, signal processing, the analysis of spatial and directional data and image analysis. The revised and updated Fourth Edition includes sixteen new sections and most chapters have greatly been expanded so that they now include a step by step discussion of all methods before demonstrating the methods with MATLAB functions.

New sections include: Array Manipulation; Control Flow; Creating Graphical User Interfaces; Hypothesis Testing; Kolmogorov-Smirnov Test; Mann-Whitney Test; Ansari-Bradley Test; Detecting Abrupt Transitions in Time Series; Exporting 3D Graphics to Create Interactive Documents; Importing, Processing and Exporting LANDSAT Images; Importing and Georeferencing TERRA ASTER Images; Processing and Exporting EO-1 Hyperion Images; Image Enhancement; Correction and Rectification; Shape-Based Object Detection in Images; Discriminant Analysis; and Multiple Linear Regression. The text includes numerous examples demonstrating how MATLAB can be used on data sets from earth sciences. The book’s supplementary electronic material (available online through Springer Link) includes recipes that include all the MATLAB commands featured in the book and the example data.

Innovative Earthquake Soil Dynamics deals with soil dynamics in earthquake engineering and includes almost all aspects of soil behavior. Both generally accepted basic knowledge as well as advanced and innovative views are accommodated. Major topics are (i) seismic site amplification, (ii) liquefaction and (iii) earthquake-induced slope failure. Associated with the above, basic theories and knowledge on wave propagation/attenuation, soil properties, laboratory tests, numerical analyses, and model tests are addressed in the first part of the book. A great number of earthquake observations in surface soil deposits as well as case histories with new findings are addressed in the later chapters, together with associated laboratory test data. Most of the research results originate from Japan, which is rich in earthquake records and case histories, although mostly isolated from the outside world because of the language barrier. Another important feature characterizing this book is an energy perspective in addition to the force-equilibrium perspective, because it is the author’s strong belief that energy is a very relevant index in determining seismic failures, particularly of soils and soil structures. Innovative Earthquake Soil Dynamics is written for international readers, graduate students, researchers, and practicing engineers, interested in this field.
